The Rice University School of Architecture will posthumously bestow the 2024 Dean’s Medal to Raymond Brochstein B.A. ’55, B.S. ’56 (1932–2022). Initiated in 2023, the Dean’s Medal is given annually in recognition of extraordinary dedication, leadership, and support for the School of Architecture and its pursuit of excellence in design education across the spectrum of practice, research, and teaching.

Associate Professor Troy Schaum and Assistant Professor Maggie Tsang are the inaugural recipients of the Rice Architecture Research Fellowship (ARF). This fellowship, funded by the Office of Research and debuting with the 2024–25 academic year, provides a $30,000 research grant and teaching leave, giving faculty the time and space to focus on major scholarly projects.
